Motivate Me… Later! Tips to stay Motivated!

MOTIVATED, MOTIVATED! DOWNRIGHT DEDICATED!”  A chant that my division back in boot camp ingeniously coined. A lot of memories retained from those trying days but none more so than our battle chant. I remember pushing myself to accomplish any task that had been ordered. Some days I wish it was the drive that I had that I retained the most. For most, keeping motivated to accomplish a task can be draining and monotonous. We loose focus and the urge for completion. We find distractions to ease our mind and take us away into a less stressful situation. We become lazy and complacent.

Does this sound even slightly familiar. The truth is, we all find ourselves in this slump from time to time. We decided to take the back seat and watch life pass us by. We watch those around us accomplish what we set out to do, all the while we seem to be unable to detach ourselves from the things that are keeping us stationary. We tell ourselves everyday to get back on track and keep going but end up letting another day conquer us. That’s the fact. We should be the ones conquering the day and resting at night on a bed of accomplishment. We forgot about what pushed us out in the first place and why.  So how can we motivate ourselves to get back out there?

  1. DON’T LOOSE SIGHT OF YOUR GOALS – If we forget why we tasked ourselves to take on our specific endeavors then the drive for accomplishment will seem more like wasted energy. Keep your goals present and known at all times. Find pictures of your goal(s) and pin them up around your home and office. Make screensavers, ringtone, comedic voicemail greetings, anything, you name it. Never forget what motivated you in the first place.
  2. CREATE A PERSONAL SCHEDULE – Sounds simple enough when said, however, it takes dedication when applied. It starts with what time you decide to wake up. Wake up at that time every single day (yes, even days off). Ask yourself, would you rather wake up for work or for yourself? The way I see it that extra time you spend on yourself in the morning before work marks the end of your day. Other events can be worked in and placed where you will allow it. Always make sure you give yourself the time you need to accomplish your goals.
  3. MAKE YOUR DISTRACTIONS HARDER TO ACCESS – Whether it be video games, your cell phone or computer, try to use some of the programming to your advantage. For example, video game consoles will allow you to customize user accounts so that you may restrict game play to time of day and how long. For the mobile devices pick a specific spot in your home that is out the way but can still be heard. Remember, out of sight, out of mind.
  4. CELEBRATED EVEN THE SMALLEST VICTORY – Don’t take your own work for granted. Let’s say your writing a book and when you first started you were knocking out whole chapters every  other night. However, a couple of weeks later, you have slowed down to a page a night. Don’t worry! PROGRESS EQUALS PROGRESS. Whether it be simply updating a webpage, completing a paragraph in your writing, or even setting up the paint and canvas for the next day, it only seems like nothing if you belittle your progress. No matter how big or small the task celebrate and allow yourself to feel accomplished.
  5. KEEP CHIPPING AWAY AND STAY POSITIVE! – Even if you think you are at a standstill with your work, find something that will help you progress. In most cases, there is always something to be done, new skills to learn, knowledge to obtain, and research to be performed. If need be create a list and make it a point to mark off one line item a day. Stay focused and use some good ole fashion positive reinforcement. Celebrate all your victories and treat yourself. Be positive about your work and tasks and you will be able to create a pattern of accomplishment. Never allow yourself to become critical about the work you are doing that it begins to allow negativity to take over. Fight through it and get it done.

Theses tips and skills have helped me time and time again to get back on track. I hope that it will serve you , the readers the same way.

What To Do After the Military?

By: Phillippe Jackson

May 31, 2018

Whether you’re approaching EAOS or counting down the days to retirement you can count on one question to bother your brain.

  • “What am I going to do when I get out?”

This is definitely not an unreasonable question to ask yourself but could be detrimental if you wait till the last minute to find the answer. Most service members already have a plan in place and know exactly when and where there next “job” is. However, for those of you still trying to figure out your next move this post is for you!

So  finally, you’re about to say your final farewells, shake hands, render salutes and return home after a very honorable chapter in your life.  After all that you have been through and experiences gained in service to your country it may seem hard to imagine yourself working a civilian job. For most, this is just how the world is and has always been. For the rest of us this idea is unappealing and the want for something more is heavy in our hearts. You have already sacrificed so much for the defense of our nation and the thought of needing a 9-5 to survive is distressing. You have worked tirelessly for freedom but now it’s time to work hard for yourself! So what can you do?

  • Digital Entrepreneurship!

A digital entrepreneur is someone who makes a living online through the digital market and all they need is a computer. Before you click off this page, give the idea a serious thought.

You might be saying that it’s not for you and that you don’t have the skill set for entering the digital market place much less become successful online. You also might be thinking that you don’t have the money to do it.  These reasons alone would justify not investing any time or effort online. The truth is that you would need a special skill to write code for a website and a substantial amount of capital to get a website going… back in 2000. In today’s digital market place any one who is serious about creating online income can build a website and be successful at whatever niche they get involved in. I can’t imagine anyone fed up with a 9-5 not wanting to be their own boss and to have the opportunity to work from home.

With the growing popularity and demand for online commerce the opportunities are limitless. The old school way train of thought of getting an education and finding a job is becoming more unattractive and self-educating and mastering the internet is the way to go. With improvements in technology and programming, starting an online business has become extremely easy. It has nearly been reduced to a click-paste-publish routine. There are countless success stories to read about across the internet and more than a few of those entrepreneurs came from absolutely nothing.

Starting up a website to build around your brand can be done in day. Your website can be filled with valuable content and monetized within a month and you can start that vigorous climb to the top and begin generating income for yourself.

It may sound like an easy process and very promising but be aware. If this is not something that you’re going to put your heart into, it will show through your content. If you choose to go down this path, you will need to put thought into the content you provide and not only build your brand but believe in your brand.

  • What can I do to make money online?

There are plenty of options when trying to build income in the digital market. Keep in mind that in the digital market there is a global audience and the biggest business online is information. Google grew exponentially because of the need for information. Being service members we a trained to do a variety of things from communication and admin, to gun safety and self defense techniques. Viewers want the information you have and are willing to subscribe to you to get it. The top three things someone looks for when  jumping online they are either looking for answer to a question,  to be entertained, or make a purchase. With that in mind, here’s a short list of possibilities in the digital world.

  • Affiliate Marketing
  • Blogging
  • E-books
  • E-mail Marketing
  • Social media groups
  • E-commerce/ Drop-shipping
  • Educational/ Entertaining YouTube videos

All of these outlets can generate income if utilized correctly.  You can learn more about these different streams on my Passive Income page. The great thing about it is it can all be created while still on active duty! If you tap into the digital stream and replace your income before you depart from the military, you would be able to spare yourself the agony of buffing your resume’ and going from business to business looking for another generic routine. Once you learn the skills and put the hard work in at the beginning, all you would have to do is kick your feet up and steadily grow your online empire! This is a lifestyle where you are the boss and you set the schedule!

If this sounds like a lifestyle you are willing to work towards then start now and visit my Passive Income page. If you would like to learn more or expand your current operations, then I encourage you to visit my Resources page . After putting your country first, this path will give you the opportunity to put yourself first.

How to Build Assets for the Little Guy

By: Phillippe Jackson

May 12, 2018

After spending a lot of man hours researching assets, one thing has become apparent in order to achieve my goal of financial freedom. It takes a lot of capitol to build an asset up big enough to provide a substantial monthly return. This revelation is a bit deterring, none the less my determination is a lot more durable than I even realize.

So to raise my capitol I decided to research passive income. Passive income is income the takes hard work in it’s initial start up phase but after the work is done then it provides an income with little effort. Searching this topic has produced an incredible amount of valuable information. There is a treasure trove of free information and strategies on the internet backed by real people from diverse backgrounds. All of these passive income gurus all mention assets but it is not there focal point.

There are three strategies for passive income that I am going to look into personally to try and boost my investing power.

First one is affiliate programs. This is basically marketing products for other companies. Amazon is a big one when it comes to affiliate marketing.

Second is e-commerce. It is apparent that there is a lot of money to be made here. Simply put, it is an online store that you own and operate. If you’re like me and you own some form of a website whether it be blog or personal page, then this might interest you.

Finally the last one that interested me was E-books. Kindle has taken publishing e-books to another level. If you have an old story that you wrote sitting in your hard drive than this might be for you. I plan on using this strategy of passive income when I start seeing results from the other strategies.

In conclusion, since I do not have an investment budget that I am happy with I have decided to create passive income for myself in order to grow my investment power. The more I learn about the path to financial freedom the more I am doing and taken action. It is a great feeling!

How to think like the Rich!

By Phillippe Jackson

May 9, 2018

A big part of what I am learning is changing the way I see things in terms of financial success. A paradigm shift if you will. In my previous post I mentioned the mind exercise I play with assets and liabilities. That is just a very small part of how a rich person perceives the world. So in order to be rich, you must start thinking like the rich.  A lot of resources out there preach this consistently.

For example, some say, “I can’t afford that!”, but instead should start saying “How can I afford that?”. The first statement mentally ends the conversation with no room for a solution. The second is a question that challenges a person to think and pursue a solution.

So let’s say that Joe just found his new favorite coffee drink  to start his day with  from the local diner down the street. However, this new drink will put him $50 over his monthly budget. If Joe had a “poor” mindset then he would either say he couldn’t afford the drink on a daily basis or he would cut back on something else on his budget. Joe fortunately has a rich mindset and looks for a way to make an extra $50 dollars a month so that he can afford his new found drink. It is simple little points of view that can help train your mind in order to achieve your financial goal.

Once the little points of view start to stick then the bigger picture starts to become clearer. Once you start generating more income, the more money you’ll have to invest in assets.

A persons biggest critic is themselves. When someone tells themselves they can’t make tons of money then they probably won’t. The fact of the matter is that most of us are capable of making more money than we earn.  The first thing that has to change so that we can unlock that potential is our mind. Two men who have helped me on how change my point of view is Dan Lok and Robert Kiyosaki.

Their teachings challenges us on how to feel and think about money. It’s the singular most important thing that can help us the tide in our favor.

What are Assets? The Basics

By Phillippe Jackson

May 4, 2018

If you have done any kind of research on building your wealth and becoming financially liberated, then you might have clicked over a few videos with a common title.

“What Rich People Buy That Poor People Don’t”. You might have seen this a time or two in some variation or another.

The answer will always be assets. After reading RDPD, I’ve adopted Mr. Kiyosaki’s definition of an asset. Assets  are anything that puts money in your pocket. It’s a very simplified definition of the term and easily applied. Standing opposite of assets are liabilities,  which take money out of your pocket. To be financial free, you most grow your assets and allow them to pay for your liabilities.

With the adoption of the basic understanding of the terms, I am fortifying my foundation to create my financial freedom.

I have started training my brain to recognize which is which. For instance, I see a brand new car fully loaded that more than likely has a high monthly payment. That car would be taking money out of my pockets which makes it a liability. Further on down the street, I see a house with a for rent sign. That lease will provide money every month to the owner which would make it an asset.

I would encourage others to do this same exercise. It can be fun and it is so easy to do when it comes to preparing your brain for financial success.

Now that these terms are burned into my brain. My next step is to see how to obtain assets and grow them.

Broke and Pissed!

By Phillippe Jackson

April 20, 2018

Here I am, approaching 30, with a wife and a growing family. It seems like no matter how hard I work, or how much family time I sacrifice, I am getting no where in life. I feel like I have made progress. However, I am disappointed  that I find my self in the same everyday routine feeling stuck. My money is tight and it seems that everybody wants what I worked so hard to get. I look at my paystub and others take their cut before it’s passed down to me. I’m left with scraps while everyone else seems to be enjoying their meal. I want, but I cannot have. I need, but it’s out of reach. I save, but something always comes up. I am broke and I’m pissed.

Can you relate?

If you haven’t felt the financial strain coming from the cold, hard grip of reality, then consider yourself lucky. Debt.com reported this year that in 2017 about 49% of Americans are “concerned, anxious or fearful about their current financial well-being”.  I must admit that I am among this crowd.

Then there’s another crowd not mention. A crowd that seems to be indifferent to what is going on. The individuals in this crowd have found a way to financial freedom. They broke free of there 9-5 hamster wheel and are living their lives the way they see fit. Now I ask myself, why am I broke and pissed and not in this crowd.

Money scare. The fear of not having money is what Robert Kiyosaki teaches in his book Rich Dad, Poor Dad.  This fear keeps us on the same hamster wheel day in and day out.  As if the wheel was connected to a bomb and if we stop running our lives would be destroyed.   This book is one of the first titles I picked up in my search of financial answers. This resource has opened up my mind to a new line of thought and challenged my way of thinking concerning my finances.

After expanding my knowledge from the help of Mr. Kiyosaki and  some self reflecting, I realized that my financial freedom is being prevented by none other than me. Now I am even more pissed because I found out that it was that s.o.b. in the mirror who has kept me on this hamster wheel. I let my expenses get the better of me with no attempt on building up my cash flow. I let myself stay financially illiterate. I have been misusing two of my most important assets. My brain and my time. With help from a paradigm shift, I can finally start breaking free from the rat race.

The goal is to strengthen your brain by becoming financially literate and raising your financial IQ. Learn the things that they never taught in school. Utilize your time by finding  ways to invest  into assets.

Yes I’m broke, but being broke is temporary. Being pissed about it isn’t going to improve my situation but it does drive me to better my situation. Needless to say I’m broke and pissed and on a mission. There is a wealth of knowledge in the world and with today’s technology it is at our fingertips. Information is today’s hottest commodity. I’m here to harvest that vital knowledge and share it with everyone I know and use it myself to reach my goal.
